Patience

I could never understand why Richard took forever to decide on something. Not just the typical "I cant decide what I want to get from the drive through menu" - Big stuff.. Like picking out grass seeds, BBQ's and lawn mowers... Speaking of BBQ's... Today, we went to Lows to get a BBQ.. And when I say "we" I mean, Richard, Amir, Ruthie and I. We were there FOREVER. So finally I told Rich that I would pick out everything. So I told him everything I wanted and of course, he got the exact opposite. I never could figure out the reasoning behind standing in the store for an hour looking at pro's and con's of things and figuring out just how much your really spending on each part of what your buying. I never could understand it until I spent an hour and a half yesterday with my father in law looking for a lawn mower - which I find hilarious. Actually no, I still don't understand it...
I only have one thing to say about the whole thing... Like father, like son.

Marshmallow Fetish

It's late - about 3:00 am. And for some odd reason I was just thinking about roasting marshmallows. Yes, marshmallows. Big ones. Then I realized that I have a somewhat crazy fetish with the sound the marshmallows make when they catch on fire. It is the best sound ever!! I've loved this ever since I was a little kid. Only one thing has changed... When I was little and I would burn the marshmallows I wouldn't want to eat them. I would give them to my grandma to eat because she said they tasted good. But then after I got a little bit older and did it people started to criticize me for doing that. So instead of burning them and wasting them or choosing not to even burn them (that was NOT an option) I decided to just man up and start eating it. And now... I cant eat my marshmallows any other way. Burn it... Peel off the outer, burned layer and eat it... Repeat process until marshmallow is gone..

MMMM...

Outsourced Caring™

Outsourced Caring™

Go to this site and read this blog. Hilarious. Rich and I were just discussing this the other day.. Those stupid self checkouts are taking over. Soon all you are going to have to do is push your cart through a huge scanner and it will do it all for you. But heaven forbid you push it through too fast.. It will also jack the price of the food up. Just like the gas. Hoooorrrrayy....

Pride

The fact that one minute you could be a "nobody". While you are that nobody you have your circle of friends the girls/guys that you have crushes on and they have little crushes on you and so forth. You date them, you hang out with your friends... Cool.
The next minute you become a movie star, a rock star... whatever. Then you start to fade away from the people who care about you. You drift away from that person you truely love. Because you have to experience life. Try new things... Make new friends.
I think its so incredibly stupid how when you don't have that camera recording you or that guitar or microphone in your hand, people don't look at you twice, the second you get one or more of those things. You are special to everyone. And you begin to forget the people who helped you get there.
You have your groupies and your fans there but they aren't going to support you if something happens where you can no longer be "special". You know who is? The people who TRUELY love you for who you are and what you believe in and will support you in ANYTHING you want to do. Even if it means giving up your career to go do something else. Like become a Dr, make a family or become a teacher.
Bottom line... Don't cut the people who truely care about you out of your life. You may need them someday and if you shun them for too long, they may not be there in the end.

Old blog from about two years ago...

A massive spider just a tiny bit smaller than my palm just came OUT of my hair [which is gross cause I just washed my hair TODAY and brushed it like two hours before this happened] Those things are ALL over my house this time of year and I am SICK of it.I dont even know what kind of spiders they are, I have only seen them in this house. But they are like MUTANT spiders!
I once again had to have my brother come and kill that thing!!he said it SQUISHED then CRUNCHED.which is sick.
so, i'm gonna clean my house tomorrow...with rubber gloves. and i'm getting spider traps.
Those stupids are going DOWN!
*cries*

Ruthie "Pigface" Draper

We live in a not so great area of Salt Lake. Our house is located right across the street from a park and the Jordan River is just west of our house within walking distance. We have a dog, Ruthie. She is a little crazy dog. She rarely runs off and the only time she does is to go visit a person she can see. Usually a stranger. So the other day I let her out with her leash on. Usually when she has her leash on she stays around even when I don't hold onto her. Well across the street in the park there was a homeless person sitting by a tree. The second I saw him I knew what was going to happen so I called Ruthie. She noticed where I was looking and looked over in that direction. She saw the bum. She started booking in towards him. So of course I started running after her. She got about half way to him and stopped to look at the chickens in the neighbors yard. Then she saw me running for her and started off towards the bum again. Well I didn't want to get too close because you never know what could happen. So I stopped and right when I stopped she looked back at me (she's even closer to the bum at this point) then she looks back at the bum, wimpers and runs back to me.

My sister is hilarious. Yes, that is her playing with my ear.

Recycle?

Salt Lake County is trying to get the people who live her to recycle by giving us the big blue garbage cans... So you put your recyclables in the can and they pick it up the same day that your other garbage gets picked up... But whats the point in having them when they never come to pick it up?

Who knows.

Fluoride Controversy

I watched this youtube video, its someone from the EPA talking about the causes of fluoride. If you didn't already know... FLUORIDE IS IN OUR DRINKING WATER.

Also, just an article about fluoride:

And here is something on the effects of arsenic in the water:

A Lovely, PAINLESS Experience?

When I became pregnant with my son everyone began to tell me what a lovely experience it was to be pregnant and also give birth.. Well there must be something wrong with me because for the first trimester of my pregnancy I was vomiting about every 5 minutes and sleeping in between. The second trimester - It was a little better. I mean, I could work and was only throwing up about every other day or if I ate something that my stomach didn't want. Usually what I ate during my pregnancy was fruit. Thats it. With the exception of bananas because I vomited that up in the first trimester.. I am done with banana's for a while. Anyway - The THIRD trimester I was still working but was in bad shape. My stomach was so huge that walking was a struggle. I worked up at the University of Utah and the bathroom was a 5-7 walk down a narrow hallway.. That made my life a living hell.. Have you ever seen a huge pregnant lady running for the bathroom.. Literally sprinting? Because my co-workers did. Imagine this: A smaller girl with a huge baby belly running down a hallway she barely fits in, holding her stomach up as she's running. Funny picture? Probably but I hated it. Also, the only comfortable way I wanted to sleep was on my back. For those of you have been pregnant before know what happens when you do that. Light headedness and elevated heart rate. I wanted to sleep on my stomach as well but everyone should know how that would turn out...
Now onto labor.. I had this idiot idea to have a natural birth. No drugs. I was told that it was easy and a better experience. Let me tell you I have never felt such horrible pain in my life. I was dialated to 7 and I decided to get an epidural. Good idea right? Thats what I thought too... I had two doses of the epidural in a 3 hour period. I was induced at 12pm... and started pushing at 8pm. I had the epidural at 5pm. and the second one at 7pm. When I started pushing at 8pm I was having some slight pain, but by then of course it was too late to have another dose. By the second push I could feel everything. Every tiny pain and every huge pain.
I'll spare you the gross details of giving birth.
My son was born at 8:16pm. 16 minutes of pushing felt like hours.

So, if someone tries to tell you that pregnancy/labor is great? They are lying to you.

Audition

I occasionally go to various auditions in hopes of getting some sort of extra cash by getting the part. I wen't to an audition today for a rising sitcom. I had my sides but I didn't get them until yesterday so I only got a chance to look at them breifly before I went into the audition. When I got there, I read the first part with some wack-o girl. There were two different scenes that I was supposed to read. The first, was just between "Hailey" and "Stacey". I read Hailey. We got through that short scene fairly quickly but I noticed something odd about the script but I couldn't quite put my finger on it. Then we moved onto the next scene where it required four people, two males - "Pete" and "Justin". This was a longer scene. Pretty much what was happening in this scene was: Stacey and Hailey are roommates and Pete was a good friend. I'm assuming it was a college setting. Pete came over with his new roommate Justin.. Well Justin had an instant attraction to Hailey but seemed to be the shy type. After a moment they boys were invited to some volleyball game. They both declined and Justin left the scene first.. Here is where I finally figured out what was weird about the scene... IT WAS A MORMON SITCOM!!!

American Idol

For those of you who watch American Idol or live in Salt Lake City, Utah know about David Archuleta. Well I live in Salt Lake and everywhere I turn I see "David A. - David A. - David A.". Well this blog is about how sick I am of hearing about him. So what if he's 16 (right? 16?) and goes to whatever high school he goes too. And SO WHAT if he lives in Murray. My mother lives in Murray... You don't see her on the news do you? NO!
Lets move on to a similar point... Sabra, from So You Think You Can Dance... She was also from Utah. Well guess what? She was also in High School Musical... You didn't see her in the news for that until she was on So You Think You Can Dance did you? NO!
In conclusion.. I just think the whole American Idol thing is stupid altogether. Do we really need more "Britney Spears" type in the world? NO!
