Garden Progress

I harvested some zucchini today in the process picking a spaghetti squash by mistake. It's a little less yellow than I hoped but there are at least 7 more squash waiting to be picked. I'm really excited!!
The spaghetti squash plan has completely taken over my garden. My tomato plants are hanging on underneath it. I lost my watermelon & jalapeños. Oh well. :)

Blast from the Past!

Yesterday Amir and I visited my previous workplace, Krispy Kreme. No, its not the same one I worked at. (That one has closed down) But it smelled the same. Ha. Amir loved it. He loved eating the doughnuts and watching them glide by. I personally found this boring since I watched the doughnuts for almost two years of my life! But watching Amir was lots of fun and there is *almost* nothing better than a hot krispy kreme doughnut. Yum!

Can I Do It?!

Here's the skinny: I want to try to live off of $250 worth of groceries this month. $250 for the ENTIRE month of July. (technically it started this week because we got paid this week, I will continue until two paychecks from now on $250) This is only for food. No diapers, deodorant, face wash etc. My plan of attack? Farmers market, Sunflower Farmers market & Harmons. I have clipped some coupons and have some meals planned out for the next couple weeks. Also, no dining away from home. That is going to be the hard part. I have a hard time saying no if I don't have to cook that day. But, Rich & I have worked it out so I cook and he helps clean up. Which is nice and saves me a lot of work and stress. This also means that I have to go to the store alone. Rich and I are horrible shoppers together and there is also NO way I am sending him to the store alone.... Think I can do it? Lets find out...

This week I went to the store for the first time on my new budget.. I got enough food to last for a week and a half. (Meat, cheese, Bread etc) I went to Harmons and Sunflower Farmers Market. I spent $81 between the two stores. I was amazed at how well I did. :)

And It Begins... :)

Today I FINALLY got to harvest some veggies from my garden. Well, just carrots & cilantro actually. I planted the baby carrots thinking thats all we would need and I would just replant them throughout the summer. Wow was I wrong. They were TINY! (picture is just the larger of the carrots) Luckily, I bought some larger carrot seeds and I planted those in the baby carrots places. I hope that they turn out bigger and better than the ones I harvested today. As for the cilantro, its starting to seed so I will have some fresh coriander soon :)
