Dilemma

We are faced with a choice. One we knew was coming but we are still completely unprepared for it. Daphne (our female cat) is in heat & Tiger (our male cat) is trying to mate with her. They are now 8 months old & we never had them fixed. Obviously. So I called the vet today and made them an appointment for tomorrow. For both of them its going to be at least $300. Not to mention recovery time and cost for pain medication. 


So our choices are: 
Keep them & pay the $300. This is not ideal, we don't exactly have the money to do this... Hence the reason we've put off fixing them in the first place. I would like to keep them but there is no way we can when they are not fixed. In fact, I think Daphne is out getting knocked up as we speak...


Give them away to someone via KSL or wherever This is also not ideal, giving them to someone for free could be giving them to anyone, crazy cat killers.. People who sacrifice animals for whatever reason... That thought scares me. But there is also a possibility that they could get a home together... But still.. Cat killers...


or,
Give them to the Humane Society Ideal, but makes me feel severely guilty. Why? Because we have had them for the first 8 months of their lives. We are all they know. But with the humane society there are less crazies since they have to pay for them. Which is nice. There is a small fee to take them there but I think it would be worth it.




Needless to say, I have a lot of thinking to do. I also need to cancel their appointment for tomorrow because paying that much for them is completely out of the question at this point. Writing it out helped me realize that. I love blogging.

Mothers Day

I want to start off by saying that I have the best husband ever. Today was also his birthday and he let me sleep in. Way in. I am so happy that I have my family. Especially Rich & Amir. They are my world and I don't know where I would be without them. 


I also want to acknowledge all the great mom's in my life... Starting with my own mother, she put up with my awful teenage years & still loves me. I believe that to be a miracle. I was horrible. She has sacrificed a lot for her kids. I'm grateful for that.


Next, my grandma. She is the best. She has been around me my entire life. She has done a lot for me, including letting me live with her for a few months before Rich and I got married. I wasn't working and was a total lazy bum. She is the strongest lady I know and I really look up to her. I cant think of anything I wouldn't do for her. I'm proud to call her my Gram! 


Last, but not least - my mother-in-law. She bore SIX children, the sixth being my wonderful husband. She also has twenty-something grandchildren! She is so nice & loves everyone. She puts up with us coming over to her house and my child leading her around the house and playing iSpy. He loves her so much. I couldn't have asked for a better mother in law.

E 's for eggs. Amir whines everyday until I make him one. He loves eggs.
F is for family. I love my family.
G is for garden, attempt in progress... So far, so good.
H is for home. I spend a lot of my time there.
I is for ice. Its what my dogs like to chew on.
J is for Jasper, he makes my life harder than it should be.
K is for kennel, its where I keep the dogs (not all the time mind you!)
L is for love.
M is for magazine, they sometimes keep me entertained (Family Fun is one of my favorites!)
N is for neat. Thats how I like to keep my house. Not that it stays that way.
O is for Oatmeal. My favorite breakfast.
P is for pictures. I love having pictures of my family around.
Q is quilt. They are all over my house and I LOVE them!
R is Richard, the love of my life.
S is for Saturdays. One of the best days of the week!
T is for time. There is not enough of it!
U is underwear... I cant convince Amir to wear it!
V is for vacation. I need one.
W is for work out.
X is for Xeric. Amir is starting to like pirates.
Y is for yard. Still working on it..

Anti-Sippy, Can It Be True?!

Day 2 & 3




Night two went a little bit worse than the night before... More crying... Grumpy... He slept in our bed for part of the night and tried to push me out of bed & take my pillow. brat
This morning he willingly drank from his cup with the straw. He asked for a sippy once in the afternoon & he actually took a nap after taking a drive. He woke up very grumpy from the nap. I'm going to point the finger at lack of sleep. Poor kid. 
Anyway, to sum up the day; fairly well but there was a LOT of whining. 


Night three he hardly woke up for a sippy. When he did wake up he just took a sip of water and went back to sleep. So the nights are getting better. YAY! He ate breakfast without the mention of a sippy. Rich did slip and mention a sippy and Amir honed into it right away but when we told him we don't have sippy cups he was fine with it and just went on with life. Later however, he was watching Blues Clues and whined/cried for a good thirty minutes for a sippy cup. He was very tired. The rest of the day, no more problems!


Can It Be True?!

Yes I do believe that we have been successful in his sippy detachment. He still occasionally asks for a sippy cup but then realizes what he said and says to himself, "oh, no more sippy's". Now he just asks for a drink.. His water bottle, cups, cups with a straw & juice boxes.

I cannot believe this day has come! Now if he would just wear underwear and go pee on the potty all the time......

Family Pictures

We had some family pictures done a couple weeks ago and we just got them back. I am very pleased with how well they turned out. Trying to get Amir to sit still for a second to get his picture taken is like pulling teeth!
